Winter Drive Reaches 3,000 Children Across Five States
As temperatures dropped across northern and central India this winter, Need Foundation's relief teams distributed warm clothing, blankets and hot meals to more than 3,000 children across five states.
The drive, run in partnership with local schools and community volunteers, prioritised villages where children were walking to class in thin uniforms with no warm layer underneath. Distribution points were set up at our learning centres and at partner schools, with volunteers coordinating door-to-door delivery for families who could not travel.
"A blanket sounds like a small thing until you've watched a child shiver through a whole school day," said one of our Hapur-based field coordinators. "This drive exists because our volunteers noticed that, and refused to let it become normal."
Alongside blankets and clothing, the teams served hot tea and milk at each stop — part of our ongoing Warmth in Winters fund, which runs through the coldest months of the year.
Need Foundation plans to expand the drive to two additional states next winter, subject to continued donor support.
